WordPress Portfolio Website
This custom WordPress portfolio website project for Folium Studio started long before any design work happened. Julia came to me looking for clarity — clarity around her positioning, her audience, and how she wanted to communicate her work as a landscape designer. Before touching logos or colours, we focused on brand strategy sessions to unpack her vision and direction.
This stage was essential. A strong website or visual identity only works when it’s built on clear foundations. By defining her audience, tone, and goals first, we created a roadmap that guided every creative decision that followed.
Brand Strategy
Brand strategy is often the most overlooked part of a project, but it’s what transforms design from decoration into purpose. For Julia, this phase gave structure to her ideas and helped align her business goals with how she wanted to be perceived.
Through workshops and exploration, we shaped the emotional and visual direction of Folium Studio. That clarity allowed us to confidently move into design, knowing every choice would support the bigger picture.
Logo Exploration
Phase two focused on translating strategy into visuals. The challenge was to create something modern and timeless that truly represented Folium Studio.
The name itself gave us a strong starting point. Folium comes from Latin, meaning leaf, and it also relates to a geometric folium curve — a shape that visually echoes organic movement. We explored how this form could influence the logo, connecting nature, structure, and design into one cohesive concept.
Our first round leaned heavily into typography, but while technically strong, the designs didn’t fully capture Julia’s vision. We paused, reassessed, and explored new directions — incorporating folium-inspired shapes and even orchid motifs, reflecting her personal connection to plants.
It was a challenging stage. Julia knew something wasn’t quite right, but articulating that feeling wasn’t easy — and that’s where communication became everything. Instead of forcing progress, we stepped back, rebuilt the mood board, and approached the concept with fresh eyes.
The final round delivered clarity. One concept immediately stood out — a custom logotype paired with a refined leaf-inspired mark. It balanced modern elegance with organic symbolism, exactly what we’d been working toward. Refinement followed, and the final logo felt intentional, distinctive, and deeply aligned with the brand.
The Website
With branding locked in, we moved into the custom WordPress portfolio website build. The goal was to create a clean, modern platform where Julia could showcase her projects and services while maintaining full flexibility to grow.
This website was built from scratch — not from a template — allowing every layout and interaction to reflect the Folium Studio identity. We structured the site to highlight her portfolio work, guide visitors through her services, and create a seamless user experience across devices.
We also implemented SEO foundations and worked on copy direction to ensure the website wasn’t just visually strong, but strategically positioned for visibility and engagement.
To complete the project, we extended the brand into supporting materials and social media direction, ensuring consistency across platforms. The result was more than a logo and website — it was a cohesive brand system Julia could confidently grow with.
